As Chief Security Officer at Hosting Haven, you’ll be responsible for safeguarding the integrity of our infrastructure, protecting user data, and ensuring the reliability of our hosting environment. You’ll set security policies, oversee compliance with best practices, and work with Infrastructure and Development teams to minimize risks.
Your role is proactive: spotting vulnerabilities before they become threats, and reactive: leading incident response when issues arise. This is both a strategic and hands-on role in building trust with our community.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enforce Hosting Haven’s security policies and standards.
- Oversee the security of infrastructure (nodes, VPN, Proxmox, Pterodactyl panel, etc.).
- Monitor systems for vulnerabilities and implement regular audits.
- Ensure proper data protection practices (backups, encryption, access control).
- Collaborate with Infrastructure and CTO teams on secure deployments.
- Lead response to any security incidents or breaches, including communication and remediation.
- Stay up to date with evolving threats and recommend new protections.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Linux server security (iptables, WireGuard, Docker, Proxmox hardening).
- Experience with auditing, penetration testing, or vulnerability management.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC2, etc., even if just adapted for best practices).
- Background in monitoring/logging systems (HetrixTools, Nextcloud analytics, custom dashboards).
- Ability to write clear security documentation and train staff on best practices.
